Bookends

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

We went to Sydney to celebrate my nieces birthday and then stopped in Bathurst on the way home to celebrate my Sister in Laws birthday, very family orientated and nice.

I have finished making my ruffled bag and took it with me to celebrate. It must look alright because I had lots of lovely compliments, but then again they are my family and should be encouraging : )

I'll show you some time this week when I have uploaded the photos.

My bookends were a nice and easy makeover and look much better with a bit of white paint.

and after dabbing on some white paint, here and there

I wanted a worn shabby finish so I used a paintbrush to apply the paint in layers until I had a look I was happy with.

Another project ticked of the list.

Just a quickie

Hello to all my faithful friends who stop by to make sure I am still alive!

I though I'd share a quick makeover I got round to on the weekend,

ok a few weekends ago, last wekend I was painting lattice....

Yuck what a tedious job!!!

We bought plain lattice to use as screening in the yard

and as a support to grow some star jasmine on

but we wanted white lattice so in order to save money

we bought the cheaper stuff and decided to paint it ourselves.

It takes forever with the spray gun and is very messy with a brush,

believe me I tried both and I still have lots more left to paint.

Anyway.. back to the quick makeover

We bought some $9.99 lanterns from Ikea a few weeks ago in an industrial silver

we wanted them white,  so out came the spray cans of glossy white paint

 and voila!

in next to no time they were done!

I took out all of the glass from the lanterns and set up my portable spray booth,

after three light coats of spray paint they were done!

We bought 6 of the lanterns to use in our new outdoor area

(which I will show you one day soon),

  I used one and a half cans of the spray paint.

and the best thing is it only took an afternoon to do!

Mini Bedroom Makeover

After I finished painting the Chook house I decided to keep going, I had the hang of the compressor and all the gear was out so what else could I paint?

I had wanted to give our bedroom a lift for a while...

It was looking a bit dated and tired so what better way to freshen up then with a coat of paint

Oooops, I should have made sure the bed was properly made before I took photos : )

A new coat of paint

 Some new handles

..... equals a fresher lighter bedroom, total cost $0.

We had the paint left over and we used the old handles from the kitchen makeover 

(still to come... one day....).

Another little job that has made a huge difference was replacing our built in cupboard doors with sliding doors. Given the smaller size of our bedrooms this has given us so much extra space, I just haven't got round to painting them yet.

Well another week is almost over, I best go get ready for work.
