In the bedroom

When I posted my mini bedroom makeover I forgot to point out an important thing and a few not so important things....

The important thing was to point out my very lovely lamp that I won from Sandy, I mentioned earlier that I would show you where it lives and unless you were super observant you wouldn't have seen it!

The other thing I wanted to point out is that our bedroom makeover is not finished yet, in the near future I will have some art hanging on the wall above the bed, I just need to get to work on it......

Further in the future I will have he cupboards painted white and then even further in the future we will have new carpet and french doors opening onto a little courtyard where we can sit and enjoy our backyard. I will shoe you when it's done... just don't hold your breath : )

I also need to declutter the top of my drawers, it's just that every time I go to put some stuff away I can't bring myself to do it!

It is one spot where I just love to display all of the glittery sparkly things and all of the little things that are special to me.

Mini Bedroom Makeover

After I finished painting the Chook house I decided to keep going, I had the hang of the compressor and all the gear was out so what else could I paint?

I had wanted to give our bedroom a lift for a while...

It was looking a bit dated and tired so what better way to freshen up then with a coat of paint

Oooops, I should have made sure the bed was properly made before I took photos : )

..... equals a fresher lighter bedroom, total cost $0.

We had the paint left over and we used the old handles from the kitchen makeover 

(still to come... one day....).

Another little job that has made a huge difference was replacing our built in cupboard doors with sliding doors. Given the smaller size of our bedrooms this has given us so much extra space, I just haven't got round to painting them yet.

Well another week is almost over, I best go get ready for work.

Bedroom Wall Project

I finally got around to finishing another project that I had been wanting to do for a while. If you remember, last holidays I managed to cover a chair that sits in our bedroom. This spot where the chair sits is visible from our kitchen/living/dining area and the wall looked unfinished. I had been looking at it for quite a while planning what I wanted to do there. Due to Nick starting to work for himself and needing to rearrange our study in order to accommodate a bigger work bench etc I had some pictures that required relocating. It just so happened that Nick also had some pictures/photos that had been gifts and were just sitting beside the bed waiting to be given a permanent (well as permanent as possible in our house) home. The result......

I am pleased with how it turned out. It took some time finding the perfect layout, I played around with different configurations before I started putting holes in the wall. I placed the pictures on the bed and just kept moving them around until I found a layout I was happy with. I made sure I measured the space I had to work with on the wall and ensured that I kept within that size as I rearranged the layout on the bed. Once I was satisfied with the outcome I turned each frame over and measured where I needed to make a hole for the hook, starting from the top left I measured first how far in from the window I needed to come and then how far down from the ceiling. I marked it all out on the wall with a pencil first and then when I was pretty confident that my measurements worked I picked up the hammer and started making my holes. I wish I could say that I was spot on but alas... I did need to make a few minor adjustments.

Another project done! I am getting more motivated to pick up the paintbrush again soon and finish some more projects. Hopefully we may get some more accomplished this long weekend.

New Business

I haven't been able to post much as we don't have our internet connected at home. It is a long story but the short of it is that my talented Husband has started working for himself and has his own business. As part of the process we needed to disconnect our current internet supply and reconnect with a new supplier and unfortunately they must send out little Leprechauns on Moles to do the reconnection because it takes an awfully long time. As my hubby is a computer technician it is proving to be very frustrating given that he requires the internet to be able to do most of his work. Other than that the response to his news that he is working for himself has been very favourable and we are praying that he will be able to establish himself in no time at all.

I have been trying to get my fix of beautiful things while I am at work in between jobs and I spotted these two lovely images from Stan Benecki, and his wife Melanie Turner Benecki of Turner Davis Interiors. I love the elegant bedroom, it is so relaxed and calming I could easily picture Nick and myself having a cup of tea and a chat of an evening with the fire roaring, before retiring to that cosy looking bed for a much needed rest.

Their garden also appeals to me, I love the neat and tidy symmetry of the design. This photo makes me wish I could grab a good book and stretch out on the sun lounge to spend a few hours soaking in the warmth.
