Bathroom Bliss

I am sure I have mentioned once or twice how much I enjoy having a soak in the Bath to relax

I love all of the pretty and luxurious bath products, it is a really lovely way to pamper yourself and enjoy some time out.

I have a busy day today so I am looking forward to some time out later tonight.

How do you unwind?

Thanks for the feedback yesterday on my gift packs. I really appreciate it. At this stage my only advertising is on Face Book and on the Blog but I don't want to make this blog all about the store so I am trying to keep it balanced. I am looking into other advertising options but don't want to spend a fortune that I don't have to spend! Any suggestions?

Escaping

 Do you ever feel like escaping?

  

I feel very much like that today....

With the end of year looming and less than three weeks to annual leave everyone decides that it is a good time to buy new property or refinance etc...

So there is lots to do......

Both at work and at home

This beautiful serene bathroom really appeals to me today, nice and calm and relaxing

We do have these tiles at home.

That will have to be close enough for me when I get home tonight.

I am sure with a glass of wine and some candles I can close my eyes lie back in the tub and pretend.

Vanity

I mentioned earlier in the week that we manged to get a bathroom project finished. It isn't a huge project but it is another one done and dusted! The bathroom is not finished we still have things to do in there before it is but we were so happy to be able to cross one more of the list! This is our main bathroom vanity before It was nothing special, the vanity that was installed is a stock standard size of 750mm. The next standard size is 900mm. The space we have to work with is 880mm.

The space either side of the vanity really bothered me, it was a trap for dirt and the vanity top didn't have enough space to place anything like a liquid soap dispenser. Not to mention the taps leaked at some stage and the inside and back of the cupboard was stained and starting to rot.

Ever since we moved in I have kept an eye out for something we could use to replace the existing vanity. I was hoping to find an older piece of furniture to convert into a vanity but a few weekends ago Mitre 10 (hardware store) was having a sale and in their catalogue was the perfect sized vanity including ceramic top for $299.

While we were there we also found a Dorf basin tap set marked down from $247.50 to $30. Thank you very much!

The handles that came with the vanity were too modern to suit us so we picked up these four from Bunnings. Unfortunately they were not a bargain at $9.95 each, but they suited us and made a huge difference.

Nick spent Saturday and Sunday afternoon making the switch and we are both so happy with the difference. The bathroom is not big by any means and this vanity makes such a difference in the amount of floor space when you walk in.

We are still to get a glass shower screen installed and are just waiting on another quote. I would have liked to get a clear glass screen however the glass will have to sit as close to the vanity as possible and we will have a small gap between the glass and the vanity that will be impossible to keep clean. I know that it will bug me seeing the dust gather there and not be able to clean it properly so we will have to get frosted glass, that way it won't be visible!

I know it is such a little thing but it makes such a difference! WH and I were so happy we sat on the bathtub on Sunday evening and just admired the new vanity!

Yes it did cross my mind that perhaps we need to get out a bit more!

Bathrooms

I have lots of Bathroom inspiration pictures, must be because I love escaping to a nice long Bath after a busy week. I chose some of the best pictures that illustrate what we wanted when we built a house.

I really like the bathroom in this photo, it is simple and functional. The concrete floor, the claw foot tub in front of the window, the shelves above the bath, the stool beside the bath are all appealing and something similar to what we wanted.

I like the prettiness of the room above, it is a bit too fancy for our liking but we would've incorporated one of the items into our bathroom. I couldn't do them all as altogether it is too much for our taste.

We wanted claw foot tubs in our new house (in fact we actually bought two and still have them) and we were contemplating a shower over the tub in the en suite.

I really like the vanity unit above, I like the solid finish and the size. I like the mirror above the bath as well.

This vanity started life as a dresser. I think re purposing an item is a great idea, you end up with unique furniture and fittings with character and stories behind them.

If concrete is too expensive would is just as nice. I would probably give the vanity a white wash finish though.

I love the cupboard, I think more than anything it is the shelves full of luxury bath items that catches my fancy.

A nice simple white bathroom, nice towel hooks, unusual vanity, pretty and functional.
