I know that as a mother, I are meant to be giving and generous with my time and of myself but I must admit that I need some space and time for myself!
There I admitted it, I have confessed, I am a much better person if I have some time out!
Am I selfish, am I a mean person? No, I don't think so. I am just human and I need space! I need time to reflect, to plan, to prepare and to renew.
Life can be busy........., I am a wife, a mum, a Banker, a Board Member, a youth leader, a Sunday School teacher, a book keeper, a friend, a daughter, a sister.... just to name a few.
I love being me and I am grateful to have all these roles and to have so many people around me that I connect with in so many different ways!
But I also love to have some space to do what I need to do in order to keep being everything I can be! Sometimes you have to use what you can and make your space, even if your space may be in amongst everything else, it can still work!
Love your space Nellie, it is elegant but calming. There are plans afoot to change our teeny home office into more of my space in the summer, I can't wait. Seem to spend a lot of time packing and unpacking supplies right now!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog earlier and for your sweet words! Love your blog, I'm signing up to follow right now:-)

ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet little space just for you, love your desk! Yes, we all need to cherish a little bit of alone time once in awhile, helps to recharge our batteries!
ReplyDeleteI think it is a fundamental yearning to have a space all to ourselves. We're not being selfish when we go there...we're restoring our body, mind and soul. It's lovely that you have somewhere that's yours Nellie. You should go there as often as you need x
ReplyDeleteThis looks like such a lovely little spot to sit with a cuppa, overlooking the family and having some time to recharge. I think that taking time out for ourselves helps us be better mothers/wives. Thanks for entering my giveaway and for your lovely comment about my blog. Enjoy your weekend Nellie x
ReplyDeleteI love your space Nellie. No you are not selfish, you are not mean, you just need a place to sit and be you to propel your creative outlet. I soooo understand. We need time and space as women to regroup and get in touch with our thoughts, thus blogging and writing and taking note of beautiful images. I could not write this morning until the house was tidy! I went into a frenzy and had to have things just so, so that I could begin. I LOVE YOUR SPACE NELLIE AND I UNDERSTAND YOUR NEED TO HAVE IT AND LOVE IT. Enjoy, darling. Tracey at Velvetine Lily x o x
ReplyDeleteperfect space! Im trying to nut something like that out in my master bedroom,,, soon I hope!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great space Nellie. I also love your chair, and the fabric on the seat. My hubby has been putting an old chair together this weekend for me to paint for our desk. This will spur us on. Thanks
ReplyDeleteNellie,we all need some time for ourselves...and yes it certainly makes us much better people! I love your space and that lamp is to die for...absolutely gorgeous..I love your home and can't wait to see more. Take care:) Kym x
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely spot. I need to create one of those for me...Never feel bad about needing time out. One of my favourite sayings is "It takes a village to raise a child" and when you don't have a village...you need some time out here and there! Rxx
ReplyDeleteThat is a stunning little space Nellie. I love your desk and chair and lamp, everything. Very feminine but practical. And no, it's competely normal to want space and time to yourself. It's a rare commodity I've now discovered since becoming a mother. Thank you for your lovely comment on my blog today re Will's birthday - you're so sweet and thank you so much for your order! I'll be sending it off to you on Tuesday!!! Have a great long weekend.

I like your guilt-free space - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely little spot. Everyone needs their own little place to do their thing.
ReplyDeleteYou really do have a lot on your plate Nellie. Good to see that you take time to nurture yourself. My 16 year old son teaches Sunday School, husband is a leader there and I'm on a worship team. Sunday's are our busiest days so I look forward to a little "me" time on Monday!

It is so important to have a space special just for you to be able to relax and reconnect with yourself, I totally agree. You've created a beautiful space there. I love the fabric you chose to cover your chair and the desk and your roses, all beautiful. Enjoy you deserve it.xo
ReplyDeleteWith all of the moving around at our house lately, I am now without a space...no wonder I feel so off! Time to focus on ME for 30 mins and start to get my new space in order. Thanks for the reminder (and I love your space!).
ReplyDeleteI too totally agree with everything you said in this post. Life is overwhelming at times let alone fulfilling all those roles to all the important people in your life. I think you are a better person for asking for some space because having that space allows you to give more of yourself when needed. Enjoy your space you deserve it.
