Painting a house

Yesterday I discovered a great application that I just had to play with. Sherwin Williams has a tool where you can upload a photo of your house and then paint it. If you find this as exciting as I do you can go and check it out here. So last night I painted a house and what better way to demonstrate what paint can do then to use before and after photos. Fortunately I had just the right house to paint! You may remember this house from my post earlier in the week - Would you buy this house? I used the application to transform the rooms that I showed you with some new colours. I only painted what could realistically be painted if you were to paint in real life. The walls, ceilings, architrave, skirting boards, cupboards, doors and wall tiles were painted. Floor tiles were left as they were, carpet remains unchanged but I did install new benchtops! These were changes that I felt if we were to buy the house we could realistically do ourselves for minimal cost and big impact. So working with the exsiting colours in the carpet and floor tiles here are the results (excuse my messy painting job but I think I need more practise): Before - After -
Before -
After -
Before -
After -
Before -
After -
What do you think?
Would you buy this house now?
Having painted our house before we moved in I know that it is not easy and not for everybody. I remember many evenings sanding the walls in our house to remove the navy blue suede effect paint in order to repaint the wall. My son's room was hot pink, not just one wall but the entire room! We had family help us paint and it took us over two weeks to get the whole house done! It was well worth it and doing it ourselves saved us a lot of money that we just couldn't afford to spend.
Hope you enjoyed my before and afters.
Have a great Friday everyone and a great weekend!

Would you buy this house?

We had a great long weekend, unfortunately we didn't get as much done as I would have liked and I started lots of projects but never finished them.
I did come across this house for sale and thought I would ask your opinion on it, this is the real estate description.....
Just a few years old is this large 4 bedroom home with double garage set on 6 acres in Milthorpe. Featuring a dam, bore, generous double shed, chook shed, fenced off area for the animals and plenty more. Amazing value in such a great location. You really must make time to see this opportunity. Blinds, Curtains, Dishwasher, Insect screens, Range hood, External TV antenna, Built-in wardrobes, Clothes line, Fixed floor coverings, Light fittings, Stove.
Not too bad so far but I still don't like the way people paint the cornices and the skirting boards in dark colours and I am not sure that the blue goes that well with the colour of the carpet or the curtains. Hmmmmm, interesting ......................... But wait, there's more and this is the best.....
????????? WHY ?????????
I know I am really conservative when it comes to the use of colour in my house and I believe that the big stuff like tiles etc should be fairly neutral, then you can switch your accessories around really easily when you get sick of a particular colour.
Does anyone like the colour choices in this house? What would you look for if you were buying a house? could you look past the colour choices of the current owners. We had to when we bought our house but we were fortunate that a lot of people couldn't see past the bright colours and we got the house for a great price.
I don't mean to offend anyone, sorry if I did.
I don't like it but if you do then you can buy it, just visit here for more details.
I'd love to hear your opinion.
Have a great day!

Wall enhancement

I don't think that my house will ever be finished. My decorating seems to evolve over time. Take this wall for example.
This is how is was when we bought our house. Textured red paint, not so bad but if you look closely you can see that when the previous owners painted the skirting board they didn't bother moving the furniture they just painted up to it on either side!
After sanding and painting the wall and plenty of negotiation (WH thinks walls look great with nothing on them, he just likes to admire the paint on a blank wall???) the wall looked like this.
I was happy with that for over a year and then I discovered I have a fascination for lettering and numbers, so I added some.
I love how the words have added an extra element to the wall
I wonder how this wall will look in another 12 months time?
Have a great weekend
We have a public holiday on Monday and I scored today off as well so I am looking forward to 4 days at home to catch up on endless housework and study!
I am linking up to Favourite Things Friday over at Jessica's lovely blog A Few of My Favourite Things. Go and check it out.

Tagged + Awards = Fun!

I have been tagged to play a fun question and answer game by the lovely Alicia from Bella Card Company. Alica has a lovely blog and an etsy shop where sells her own gorgeous stationary designs.
If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting Alicia please do, you can by clicking HERE.
I didn’t realise how tricky this would be until I started and by then I was having fun and hooked.
Here goes……
1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? As much as I dream of living in an exotic European location I really don’t think I could move too far away from my family. Somewhere like this would do. Great views Less than a 5 hour drive to family
40 minutes drive to the beach
7 acres of land so I could have a gorgeous garden
2 hours drive to Sydney
Close enough to all of the facilities we require, good school, good shops, good restaurants. All those things that make life so wonderful!
For any one interested this house is currently for sale you can find the details and photos from here. 2. What is your favorite band? This changes on a regular basis and depends on what I feel like listening to. If someone had to buy me a CD and asked what I would like I could guarantee that if they bought me anything by Newsboys or Michael Buble I would enjoy it!

3. If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be? Aaargh, I am really bad at this. I like who I am. I am not sure that I want to be anybody else. Sure I would love to have all of the wonderful stuff that other people have like Lots of these
One of these
Lots of these in all different colours and styles
Something like this
But when I think of all of the influential people in the world (yes, I googled them) I don’t think that I want the pressure that they must have to deal with every day and when I think of all of the rich famous people I wonder whether their life is really that good? Are the people around them there because they love and care for them or are they there hoping for something for themselves. After all my research I decided that I am happy being me!
4. Concert or Broadway show? I haven’t been to many of either but I would choose a Broadway show over a concert. The last one I saw was the Phantom of the Opera. It was great and I am looking for to the sequel.
5. Theme song for your life? Ha, this is tricky and I cheated, yes I admit I googled this question to see what help I could get and guess what I found this great quiz. Have I mentioned that I love the web! I answered all the questions as honestly as I could, or as I cared to admit to and my result was.... Beautiful Day by U2
I can live with that! I like that song and I like U2.
Please feel free to go and check out what your theme song is! Just click HERE! 6. Would you choose a fancy dinner at a nice restaurant or a picnic in the park? I would happily do either but if push came to shove I would choose the fancy dinner. I love getting dressed up and being waited on. I would love to go here next (hint, hint Darling).
For those who are not familiar with Australia this is Tetsuya’s and is a multi award winning restaurant and Tetsuya himself has won many awards, he is an outstanding chef. 7. Favorite place to shop? I love to shop and I quite happily shop anywhere, I love the Internet for the ease and the availability but I get the most satisfaction out of getting a bargain so I love to thrift at garage sales or charity stores.
8. Favorite movie? I think I must be a pretty easy going person as once again I don’t really have an all time favourite but some that I have really enjoyed lately have been

All great chick flicks that I laughed, cried and scoffed through!
Thank you to Alicia for tagging me, I enjoyed playing along and I would like to tag the following people to play; Laura at My Summerhouse
Please do not feel you have to play but if you would like to, I would love for you to answer the same questions that I did and please feel free to get assistance from Google if required! 1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? 2. What is your favorite band? 3. If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be? 4. Concert or Broadway show? 5. Theme song for your life? 6. Would you choose a fancy dinner at a nice restaurant or a picnic in the park? 7. Favorite place to shop? 8. Favorite movie? And for those of you who have managed to get to the end of my long winded post today I just want to finish up by saying thank you to both; Laura at My Summer House for awarding me with the Versatile Blogger Award
and Catherine from A Time to Create for giving me the Happy 101 Award
I really love that you thought of me and please accept this from me!
Thank you for visiting me and have a great day!
