Decorating for Easter

We don't really decorate much for Easter here in Australia

This year I haven't done much in the way of decor at all.

I like to buy some extra bags of small chocolate eggs to have in the house leading up to Easter.

It is nice to offer them to visitors and we manage to eat a few ourselves.

This year I bought lots of little Chocolate eggs

Not all for us

I emptied all of the packets into a big vase and as
we aren't celebrating Easter at our place this year, this was the extent of my Easter decorating

Simple but still effective

The vase is not so full any more

No we didn't eat them all

I made little boxes and then filled them with some chocolate eggs

the last couple of years I have been trying to reduce the number of chocolate we give

It all gets a little ridiculous

we only finished the last chocolate bunny from Easter 2011 about 4 weeks ago!

This way I give something hand made and some chocolate to keep the kids (big & little alike) happy.

I hope you all have a great Easter long weekend

17 weeks

Here it is the long awaited belly pic ; )

17 weeks today!!

(I apologise for the photo quality,
I was rushing out the door to my doctors appointment,
No, I did not run out the door in only my tights and top,
I did throw a knitted dress over the top)

The doctors visit went very well and I will have my ultrasound in about 2.5 weeks.

I am really looking forward to the ultrasound

I want to see the baby again to reassure myself that it is healthy and alive.

I seem to worry a lot more that maybe things have stopped progressing and I just haven't realised because there aren't any physical symptoms.

I know that it is because of the last pregnancy where we thought all was fine until we went for the 12 week ultrasound and discovered that there was no fetus and only a sac,

I know that it is silly to worry about it, but sometimes I can't help it!

We would like to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl and we are more than happy to share the news!

I know some of our family don't want to know but we will cross that bridge when we get to it!

I wore maternity clothes to work for the first time yesterday I think it was because on Wednesday I wore this .....

and I think I look fat and not pregnant.

(Again sorry for the poor quality photo, I was on my way out the door to go to work and both photos were taken on my phone and come to think of it my mirror probably needs a good clean!)

Maternity clothes make you look more like you're pregnant
and less like you've been indulging
in far too many Easter eggs ; )

(is anyone else like me and buys the little chocolate eggs for gifts and then opens them and proceeds to eat them bit by bit until you realise that you have to go and buy more because you don't have any left for giving !)

Anyway, my aim for today is to try and get a start on my easter gifts and hopefully get most of them finished.

Easter is only a week away!

Have a great weekend my friends.

xx

Easter decorating

As I have been visiting everyone's lovely blogs I have been so inspired by the fantastic decorating that is going on in preparation for Easter. I have definitely noticed that decorating for the holidays is not as big here in Australia for any celebrations other than Christmas!
As a child we decorated hard boiled eggs then it was part of Sunday morning breakfast to eat our decorated eggs. We would use food colouring and wax to create patterns.
When Nicholas was a toddler he hated getting messy hands so he used a paint brush to paint the food colouring onto his eggs and then together we would create gifts for our family including personalised baskets or bags to hold an assortment of chocolate goodies!
We haven't decorated our eggs yet this year but I found some great inspiration at the Better Homes and Gardens website. These are a few of my favourites.

How do you decorate for Easter? Do you have any special family traditions?
