Walking, how cold is too cold?

I have walked each morning this week and I must admit yesterday was tough.

I walked out the door and my phone was telling me it was -2 degrees 

Boss was so excited and he came running down the driveway then he slipped on the ice, he looked like a really clumsy ice skater, limbs going everywhere, he looked funny, I giggled, then I slipped. That wasn't so funny :-

Anyway we continued much more carefully after that. The frost was amazing. It was almost 9am when I took these photos and it was still so thick.

On the way back, the frost was melting on all of the big trees and water was dripping off like a shower. It looked nice but best not to walk under it.

The sun was beautiful but it was still cold. My fingers were frozen for quite a while.

So I am wondering how cold is too cold?

I rug up when I go for a walk but my cold that was on the mend has gotten worse :-(

Should I not be walking when it's so cold or should I wear a balaclava? I wouldn't look any funnier than the guy I met on Tuesday wearing a ski mask and carrying an umbrella.... I guess he didn't want to risk getting wet?????

Maybe I need Long Johns? My thighs are the only place where I have one layer and I do feel the difference.

I tried to get a photo of us to illustrate how rugged up I am but my fingers were too cold to co-operate and Boss wasn't sure what I was trying to do. I don't usually get that close when he hasn't had a bath for a while.

Winter Weekend

Our weekend was very wintry, it rained and the wind howled and it was a pretty good weekend to stay inside.

I did venture out a few times

Our trivia night on Saturday was fantastic, our result wasn't so great (3rd last) but we had a ball!

I meant to take photos as it was a 70's dress up theme but I forgot :-(

I visited a new cafe for coffee with a friend and wondered why I haven't been there before. 

It isn't new to town just to me.

They sold some lovely things too, it's always good to check 

out the competition.

I hopped  on the scales for the first time in months and I have decided that despite the weather the dog needs to be taken for a daily walk even 20 minutes would be most beneficial, for him of course.

So I rugged up against the cold and off I went. 

The worst thing about walking/exercising in winter is half way through you are wishing that you weren't wearing quite so many layers.

Oh well the dog appreciates it and perhaps I might get some benefit from it too.

9 weeks old

Boss is growing very quickly. We think he has almost tripled in size in the last three weeks. He is very cute and has a lovely nature, loves to play, eat and sleep (sometimes in the most unusual way).

We have had a busy week working on lots of stuff, including our brick wall. We had some good progress on the weekend but not quite ready to show photos yet. Hopefully we will get another good weekend that we can get outside and do some more work.

Some exciting news is that we picked up our new puppy 'Boss' just over a week ago. He had a vet check and his first immunisations today and is fit and healthy. He is settling in really well and even the cat seems to be more tolerant of him. He is 6 1/2 weeks old at the moment.
