As I have been visiting everyone's lovely blogs I have been so inspired by the fantastic decorating that is going on in preparation for Easter. I have definitely noticed that decorating for the holidays is not as big here in Australia for any celebrations other than Christmas!
As a child we decorated hard boiled eggs then it was part of Sunday morning breakfast to eat our decorated eggs. We would use food colouring and wax to create patterns.
When Nicholas was a toddler he hated getting messy hands so he used a paint brush to paint the food colouring onto his eggs and then together we would create gifts for our family including personalised baskets or bags to hold an assortment of chocolate goodies!
We haven't decorated our eggs yet this year but I found some great inspiration at the Better Homes and Gardens website. These are a few of my favourites.
How do you decorate for Easter? Do you have any special family traditions?

That second egg is so pretty and the first ones are so bright and colourful. I've never really decorated a lot at Easter but after seeing so much inspiration out there and as Grace gets older, I will definitely start doing some craft activities with her like you say you did with your son :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I'll be decorating eggs with my granddaughters this weekend. With pre-school age, you never know what to expect, but they are always very colorful and unique.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration. I love them! I've been planning to decorate eggs this year but just haven't got to it yet. I decorated eggs last year with my niece and nephews.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day,
Jxx
I just put fresh tulips and pussy willow about the house and 2 little vintage retro chicks on my mantle. On my dining table this year, I will have pale pink napkins with silver rings and an easter bunny on each plate, plus white tulips and foil eggs on the table.
ReplyDeleteNot keen on a big Easter decor. Soem people here hang plastic eggs from strings on their trees outside and we are starting to see large blow up Easter bunnies like the Santa Claus guys that popped up a few years ago. YIKES.
ohhh I love all these images and can't for the fiance and I to have our own place next year for holidays!! lovely little blog here :)
ReplyDeleteWe have tons of family here! Yes, we start cooking on Friday! Big easter egg hunt! Thank you for always stopping by and visiting me. Your blog is a true inspiration and I wish you luck with all the fantastic givaways! ~lulu
ReplyDeleteHi Nellie, these images are gorgeous! I have never seen such pretty eggs... and they certainly give me plenty of inspiration. This easter will be busy but unconventional, as I have my best mate's wedding on the Sunday, so we will be camping the week after for our Easter fun...
ReplyDelete:)
These are all so gorgeous Nellie! I have a bag of small plastic eggs waiting for me to do something with them, so thank you for some fabulous inspiration:) Hope you have a fabulous Tuesday ~ Tina xx
ReplyDeleteWe haven't ever decorated either, I think you're right - it's just not the aussie/kiwi way! There are so many lovely ideas out there, I love the idea of egg decoration as a tradition. Noah and I made eater cupcakes the other day with little icing nests and mini eggs on top. I suspect that may be all we have time for this year.
ReplyDeleteI love all those images, the top one is so cute, but I really love the cherry blossom egg too.
I'm in love with that second image - I'm in the midst of a cherry blossom fetish at the moment and that is just gorgeous. Thanks for the lovely pics,
ReplyDeleteKerri xx
Beautiful images! I'm not hosting Easter this year, and am a little bummed about that! But...I decided that I should still decorate. I'm going to play a bit tomorrow with some ideas that are brewing in my quirky little brain. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comments about my paintings. Glad to have found your little world. Off to hop around!

Oh my gosh!!! If I wasn't such a procrastinator I would run out and try to make these right now! Easter's one of my fav holidays... summer dresses here we come ;)
ReplyDeleteI used to think that beyond coloring eggs, decorating for Easter was cheesy. Now, after joining the blogging community I am so inspired by all of the beautiful and classy ways to decorate. I am revealing my first Easter tablescape tomorrow on my blog. I am so happy I finally decided to decorate. My nine year old is thrilled.
