Vintage Suitcases

What are your thoughts on vintage suitcases?

Do you like them, loathe them, have some yourself?

I have been on the lookout for some for ages, they had to be the right size, colour and most important...

....the right price.

Then when I was least expecting it, there they were

and best of all they were free!

Aren't family wonderful?

Especially when they give you great stuff and expect nothing in return.

Vintage suitcases are so versatile, they are great for extra storage, they double up as a side table and  I think they look fabulous.

I have used my suitcases to store the spare linen for our room, the guest room and the sofa bed.

I love them,

the colours are perfect and they have so much character.

I'm having fun this week taking photos for my store. It is very time consuming though and my photography skills are quite lacking, seems that I may have to spend some time learning how to use the camera properly. Hubby does have heaps of mags for me to learn from but if you have any suggestions for great 'how to' photography blogs or online tutorials please let me know.

xx

  8. I do love old suitcases full of character and charm. The first one reminds me of one my parents have filled with old photos. I used to love opening up that suitcase and looking through all those photos. I love to take photos too but haven't found any blogs just yet to help me along with taking better photos. I'm thinking of doing a course I found online just to help me learn more about my camera, my hubby found it on the Nikon website. They hold courses all around Australia too. x

  11. My heart goes out the the buttom one, I have a familiar set at home in my office. I adore the way you have them styled them. Men are so practical aren't they. Here love, read the 1234555 page manual and by the way I have bought you a few mags to read as well! You'll be taking shots just the the pros soon!! Hahahaha

  12. I have five vintage suitcases and like you mine were free as well. I am in the process of covering one of them with Australian prints of photos and art from the 1870's to early 1900's. I have relined the interior with fresh brown paper and then spent ages distressing it to look old again. I have no idea what I will do with it when I have finished it, I will find somewhere for it no doubt. As for your photography just snap away taking as many photos as you can. Digital cameras are so user friendly.

  13. I have always had a passion for vintage suitcases, thought/think I could build a little business around my passion but I have hit a slight hitch!! A thrifty person should be able to tell me where to find merchants who supply vintage/antique suitcases. Ive just built a website promoting them and all I can find is replica suppliers!! And advise would be very welcome. Steve
