One year later....

It's been over a year since we exchanged contracts on our home and I thought I would share the 'then' and 'now' photos. The 'then' photos are the photos that were listed on the real estate web site. The 'now' photos I took yesterday. Some things look better some things look worse but I found it interesting to compare. THEN NOW

Hopefully more bits and pieces will be finished during the next year and when I look back '2 years later' the house will look even better.

I realised tonight that I (we) have completed a few projects that I forgot about and that I should share. The first that springs to mind was the little (relatively) one that I finished on the weekend, (Yes.... while Nick was out working up a sweat on the digger). Originally I wanted to create an Apothecary Jar like I found here http://http//shanty2chic.blogspot.com/2009/09/whitneys-diy-apothacary-jars-too-darn.html
This was what I started with........ The next step led me to here..... But then when I assembled it all..... it looked wrong. I didn't like it and I put it aside in the too hard basket. Until I received the latest issue of Better Homes and Gardens... Guess what, they used similar items to create the cutest candle sticks. So next time we were in Bunnings.... of course I convinced my Wonderful Husband that I had to buy more supplies to create a trio of cute candlestick.. just like I have always wanted. Lo and behold... my project....
...and while I was in Bunnings (did I mention that we almost... not quite...but almost live there) I bought glitter spray, both gold and silver (well Christmas is approaching).
I experimented with the gold glitter spray.
then... I played with the silver glitter spray.
...and I ended up with this. Cute new candle sticks and cute silver (as well as gold) pine cones.

Busy... making a mess

We have been very busy, busy making a mess (always need to make a mess first before you can make it better) and busy walking the streets doing a mailbox drop of advertisements for Nick's business. I have been too tired each evening to do much of anything except put a DVD (watching the TV series Veronica Mars at the moment) on and watch while I have a cup of tea. I thought I would give a sneak peak into our life (mess) at the moment. Hopefully I will be able to share the cleaning up photos soon......

9 weeks old

Boss is growing very quickly. We think he has almost tripled in size in the last three weeks. He is very cute and has a lovely nature, loves to play, eat and sleep (sometimes in the most unusual way).

Building a House...continued

These are some more photos that we got inspiration from....
Love the white washed effect on the door, in fact I like the whole picture.
This is the light fitting that we liked and guess what... we replaced the light fittings in our house with these. I will post before and afters soon, not quite finished yet.
We liked the look of these handles,
and these, we also replaced handles in our new house, they are very similar to these, I will show you a comparison in another post. I like the look of this sliding door, much nicer than the standard rails that are more commonly used. We have sliding doors in our house however the door slides into the wall cavity.
Have a great weekend .........

Bathrooms

I have lots of Bathroom inspiration pictures, must be because I love escaping to a nice long Bath after a busy week. I chose some of the best pictures that illustrate what we wanted when we built a house.
I really like the bathroom in this photo, it is simple and functional. The concrete floor, the claw foot tub in front of the window, the shelves above the bath, the stool beside the bath are all appealing and something similar to what we wanted.
I like the prettiness of the room above, it is a bit too fancy for our liking but we would've incorporated one of the items into our bathroom. I couldn't do them all as altogether it is too much for our taste.
We wanted claw foot tubs in our new house (in fact we actually bought two and still have them) and we were contemplating a shower over the tub in the en suite.
I really like the vanity unit above, I like the solid finish and the size. I like the mirror above the bath as well.
This vanity started life as a dresser. I think re purposing an item is a great idea, you end up with unique furniture and fittings with character and stories behind them.
If concrete is too expensive would is just as nice. I would probably give the vanity a white wash finish though.
I love the cupboard, I think more than anything it is the shelves full of luxury bath items that catches my fancy.
A nice simple white bathroom, nice towel hooks, unusual vanity, pretty and functional.
